Vishweshwari
Vishweshwari Temple, commonly known as the Godavari Tir Shakti Peeth or Sarvashail Shakti Peeth, is a sacred Hindu shrine located on the banks of the River Godavari near Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is believed to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where parts of Goddess Sati’s body fell when Lord Vishnu dismembered her corpse following the Daksha Yagna. At this sacred spot, the left cheek of Sati is traditionally considered to have fallen, and the Goddess is worshipped here in the form of Maa Vishweshwari (also known as Vishweshi, Rakini or Viswamatuka) — revered as the “Mother of the Whole World.” The corresponding form of Lord Shiva worshipped here is Vatsnabh or Dandapani, meaning “He who holds a staff.” Devotees come to this temple seeking spiritual liberation, protection, and blessings.
