About This Temple
The Mahishmardini Shakti Peeth, primarily identified with Bakreshwar in West Bengal, India, is a significant pilgrimage site where Goddess Sati's eyebrows/forehead are believed to have fallen, housing Devi Mahishmardini (slayer of Mahishasur) with Bhairav (Vakranath). The temple complex features traditional Bengali architecture, hot and warm natural springs (kunds) for bathing, and numerous smaller shrines, offering a spiritually rich experience amidst the serene Paphra River banks.
