About

Patan Devi Temple, also called Maa Patneshwari, is one of the ancient and most sacred Shakti Peethas in India, located in Patna, Bihar. According to legend, the right thigh (or cloth) of Goddess Sati fell here when Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshan Chakra cut her body — making this site a powerful center of Shakti worship. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga in her three principal aspects — Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati — with their black stone idols placed in the sanctum. Devotees believe that sincere worship here brings courage, protection, and fulfilment of wishes.
