Kuber Kumkum, also called Hirva Kumkum or Green Kumkum, is a green-colored sacred powder used in Hindu rituals.
It is especially popular in Maharashtra and some South Indian traditions.
Why is it Green?
It is made by mixing turmeric (haldi) with slaked lime (chuna) and other natural ingredients.
The chemical reaction turns turmeric bright green instead of red.
