The Kūrma Purāṇa is one of the eighteen Mahāpurāṇas and is centered on Lord Vishnu’s Kūrma (tortoise) incarnation, in which He supported Mount Mandara during the Samudra Manthana (churning of the cosmic ocean). Presented in the form of teachings delivered by Vishnu as Kūrma, the text discusses creation, cosmology, genealogies of gods and sages, and the principles of dharma and devotion. It also glorifies Lord Shiva and includes narratives about sacred places, rituals, and spiritual practices. Emphasizing balance, stability, and divine support in times of cosmic turbulence, the Kūrma Purāṇa blends mythology, philosophy, and religious guidance, offering deep insight into the interconnectedness of creation and the sustaining power of the Divine.
