The Vāmana Purāṇa is one of the eighteen Mahāpurāṇas and centers on Lord Vishnu’s Vāmana (dwarf) incarnation, highlighting themes of humility, divine intervention, and the restoration of cosmic order. Although named after Vāmana, the text also extensively glorifies Lord Shiva, sacred pilgrimages, rituals, cosmology, and the spiritual significance of various holy places. It narrates the famous story of King Bali’s generosity and how Vishnu, in the form of a small Brahmachari, reclaimed the three worlds with three steps to preserve dharma. Blending mythology, devotion, and moral teachings, the Vāmana Purāṇa offers guidance on righteous conduct, the power of devotion, and the eternal balance maintained by the Divine in the universe.
